A T1 line can transfer speeds up to 1.544 megabits per second.
That is almost 50 times faster than dial-up and up to 20 times
faster than DSL and Cable Internet. T1 lines also have fractional
speeds available which are 128k, 256k, 512k, 768k, and 1024k
of bandwidth. If you don’t need the complete bandwidth
of a T1 line but want the same dedicated access, you can help
reduce costs by ordering a fractional T1 line. However, DSL
service and Cable Internet services are now offering data
transfer up to 3 megabits per second, but this bandwidth is
normally shared with other customers around your area. You
wouldn’t get consistent speeds. Also, there may be an
extensive amount of downtime using DSL or Cable Internet that
you wouldn’t normally experience with a dedicated T1
line. In a workplace, you wouldn’t want your Internet
going down during work hours. Time is money.
